I'm getting married this year :)
A new year, time to start working on my goal weight, seriously.
I am currently using fitday.com to enter in all my calories/foods for the day. I like how simple fitday is but I don't think it tells you how many calories you SHOULD be eating for my body weight. So if anyone out there..ehem...Shannon...can find out for me how many calories I should be eating a day to get from my current weight of about 156 (height of 5'6") to 145 that would be great.
So each morning I'll make it a point to list out the total calories for the day from fitday, my foods, and activity on this blog, so you can follow along in my progress.
I forgot to weigh in this morning so I'll post my official starting weight tomorrow morning. It should be between 156 and 158.
Happy New Year, everybody!

So funny, the first thing I thought of this morning was.. Melissa is getting married this year!! :-)
So, down to business!
With "light" exercise, which means 2 or 3 days a week. Your body needs 2145 calories to maintain a weight of 156.
My suggestion would be to drop your calories to about 1500 a day and work out as much as possible.
If you ate 1500 a day, you'd create enough deficit to lose 1 pound a week. If you added in a work out of burning about 250cal each day, you'd lose 1.5lbs a week. Of course that's all science, and our bodies never work the way they *should* but, you'd def be guaranteed to lose!
Thanks. I'll focus on trying to keep the 1500 calories a day and exercise! I'm just about to hop on the wii fit.
Also, before, I found spark people really complicated. What's your opinion? I thought fitday was the one where you could find brand name foods but i don't seem to be finding them this morning, so...hmm...
I use sparkpeople because I think it's the simplest, but also has a fair number of preprogammed foods.
thedailyplate.com has the most thorough food list, I think. I used to like Fitday, but i lost my password, and had since found Sparkpeople.. so I dunno!
I am sure you'll get the hang of one of them. Man, it's handy!
