Thanatophobia

Apparently, my intense fear of loved ones (and myself) dying is an actual diagnosed phobia.

If only there were a way to overcome it - without "trusting in the lord."

I'm serious. There must be some way that I can learn to not be so afraid of death. I mean, the thought of losing Gizmo, my mom, and Brad - sometimes it keeps me up at night. Once, I even had a complete panic attack on an airplane (and that NEVER happens to me, I don't have a fear of flying at all) because I was thinking about what if I died while on the trip. It's unbelievable how intense it is. It makes it hard to breathe.

Every time I've looked up tips and support for any problem I've had, like binge-eating, nailbiting, all that kind of stuff. They all relied heavily on the standard 12-step procedure. Which itself relies heavily on "trust in the lord"
Which, I simply don't have. lol.

They tell you to take that faith, and apply it to yourself any way you can.. but it just simply doesn't apply to me.

I don't know how to "get over" phobias, if I did, I would certainly cure myself!

So, if you figure it out, let me know. :-)

There seriously needs to be a mental-problem cure-all. Like "apply directly to the brain, apply directly to the brain"
